Honest Answers to “What are you doing?”
As stay at home moms we get really good at tidying things up, including our recap of day-to-day occurrences to the point of flat out lying. It’s time to come clean mamas! So here’s what I honestly did one day:
- Washing that thing I just washed.
- Explaining for the tenth time in the past hour that the kitty can go wherever he wants.
- Folding that onesie I just folded.
- Assembling a Dr. Browns bottle with one hand, and a finger up my nose that is not my own.
- Apologizing for an injury he inflicted upon himself.
- Crying into my cold coffee and uneaten breakfast
- Quacking like a duck after I sneeze so he doesn’t have a meltdown.
- Informing him that his feet are indeed stinky and re-smelling/reaffirming this knowledge.
- Sucking pureed sweet potato off his sleeve and deeming the shirt clean enough for an ikea trip.
- Thinking of new people and animals for “the wheels on the bus” and wondering about the countless health and safety violations I’m creating.
- Thanking him for handing me a speck of dust.
- Cursing Facebook memories for reminding that I used to go places and that I dared to complain about being tired or busy pre-motherhood.
